Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter will visit Cuba from Monday to Wednesday at the "invitation of the Cuban government [link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," the Carter Center said on Friday.
During the trip [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Carter, accompanied by his wife Rosalynn, will meet with Cuban President Raul Castro and other Cuban officials and citizens to "learn about new economic policies and the upcoming Party Congress [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and to discuss ways to improve U.S.-Cuba relations," according to the Atlanta-based Carter Center.
The center said the trip is a follow-up to his previous visit to Cuba in May 2002, and it is being undertaken as a "private, nongovernmental" mission.
Carter may also visit the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) next month, U.S. State Department spokesman Mark Toner said on Thursday.
